The Business Tree Diagnostic — Map → Gauge → Rehearse → Run

You've never seen your business drawn.

Every business is a tree: roots (purpose), trunk (strategy), branches (the things that drive value), leaves (the projects you're actually running) — and the gardening disciplines that keep it alive. Most owners have activity everywhere and structure nowhere, and the money keeps landing on the wrong branch.

The Quick Scan — free, three minutes

Eight questions. You get back your maturity level on the five-level scale — Tangle to Self-renewing — and the part of your tree under the most strain, with the first treatments. No email needed to see your result.

The full tree walk — paid, self-serve

Twenty-five to forty questions, your own numbers, a sequenced pruning list. The Quick Scan reads the strain; the full walk locates the constraint.

Provenance

Where this discipline comes from

Inside big mining and engineering outfits, you can't spend a dollar without showing which branch of the strategy it grows from — and someone comes back later to check whether the fruit you promised ever turned up. Juan Jeffery spent twenty-plus years inside that discipline across Australia, PNG and Africa, and has been adapting it for owner-led businesses since the mid-2000s. The full tree was always too big to walk by hand; this diagnostic walks it adaptively, descending only where your answers flag trouble. The discipline used to need a project team and a corporate engagement fee — modern tooling is what makes it affordable at practice scale.

The ladder

Each step is the next artefact, never a conversation about one

1

The Quick Scan

Free, ungated result. Three minutes, eight questions, your tree drawn with the strain located.

2

The full tree-walk diagnostic

Paid, self-serve: 25–40 adaptive questions, your own numbers, a sequenced pruning list.

3

A session-led walk with Juan

The whole tree walked together, in session. You leave with the worked artefact the engagement is built on.

4

The Instrumented Practice engagement

Map → Gauge → Rehearse → Run: the discipline installed in your business, not just diagnosed.

What this is not: not a strategy generator, not a financial model or valuation engine, not financial advice. It diagnoses and structures what's there — the scores describe your own answers, nothing more.

Three minutes. Eight questions. Your tree, drawn.

Your answers stay anonymous end-to-end. If you ask for the PDF report, your email is used to send it and is stored only in our mailing system — never joined to your answers.
